The first graders went back to basics this week as we tackled the phonetics and applied it to their reading and writing. We began with short vowel sounds and some basic vocabulary focusing on pronunciation and correct diction.
The second graders had a chance to write their own stories using grammar learned in class. They also got a chance to stand up share what they had written with the rest of the class.
Last week, third and fourth graders started the new readings. Fourth graders are learning about volunteers and groups that help donate bicycles. The students were introduced to grammar labels. Third graders are learning that time changes and the differences between past and present. The students were introduced to past tense verbs. We have also just finished the vocabulary quizzes. Everyone is making great improvement!
The 5th graders were learning how to write their first letter to a friend.
The sixth graders were working on their projects for the end of the semester. They got a chance to present their findings to the rest of the class. It was an exciting time as the other students got a chance to ask questions.
